Julian has been a director of Manston Investments Ltd since 2009. As Chairman, his role includes facilitating change management and strategy development, and in the financial aspects of property investment.
Julian is also a partner in Manston Forests LLP, a commercial forestry business.
Previously, Julian has practised as a lawyer, was a member of the faculty that developed and taught an MBA programme and was a founder-member of a company specialising in management consultancy, development and training for professional service firms.
He has a law degree from Cambridge University, an MSc from London Business School and a post-graduate certificate in real estate finance from The University of Reading/Henley Business School. He is a keen sailor aboard his yacht Penguin, based in the Baltic, and enjoys driving classic and vintage cars, reading military history, technology and crime.
Tom joined Manston Investments as a non-executive director in 2017, becoming an executive director in early 2020 with a mandate to review the strategic development potential of the firm. His skills, experience and enthusiasm make him a very welcome addition to the team here. Becoming Managing Director in late 2020, his focus is on ensuring the overall stability & resilience of the firm, portfolio composition and optimising for long-term growth via select diversifications & strategic projects.
Tom’s background is in Strategy & M&A, advising shareholders on the sale of their private businesses; Operations, as the COO of a fin-tech start-up in London; and Finance, spending time at the Royal Bank of Scotland on a large-scale regulatory project.
Tom holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Law from Durham University, has completed the Mergers & Acquisitions programme at the London Business School and holds a Post-Graduate Diploma (Distinction) in Organisational Leadership from the Saïd Business School, Oxford University. He is a Chartered Director, and holds Fellowships of both the Institute of Directors and the Royal Society of Arts.
In his spare time, Tom sits as a member of the Institute of Directors’ Expert Advisory Group on Corporate Governance, the Advocacy Committee of the European Confederation of Directors’ Associations, and of numerous charitable and not-for-profit organisations.
Lynne joined Manston Investments Ltd as Personal Assistant to the Managing Director in 2002 and has progressed to Operations Director after being elected to the Board in May 2015.
Lynne has over 20 years’ experience of working within the property industry, having started work in the residential sector which gave her the passion of delivering solutions to her clients.
Since joining Manston, Lynne has built up an extensive knowledge of Manston’s property portfolio and is responsible for the organisation, co-ordination and management of the team.
Her day-to-day responsibilities also cover Project Management and development of the company.
Simon has been a non-executive director of Manston Investments Ltd since 2009. Simon is also a partner in Manston Forests LLP, a commercial forestry business and Chairman of BRI Wealth Management plc, a private client wealth management business.
Simon is a Chartered Director, Fellow of the Institute of Directors, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. He has extensive experience in industry having run companies in the pharmaceutical, food and leisure sectors and also acts as a trustee of several charities.
Louann is a Non-Executive Director of Manston Investments Ltd.
Before joining the Company in 2013, most, but not all, of Louann’s experience had been in the financial services sector. Although Louann comes from the south of the USA, she qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co in London. This was followed by a number of years with Price Waterhouse in the consultancy division in London before working in other financial services areas such as banking, pensions and investment management.
Jo has over 15 years’ experience in accounts. Jo joined Manston Investments Ltd in 2011 as an Accounts Administrator and has progressed to the role of Financial Controller where she has the responsibility of managing the overall business finances.
Jo successfully achieved her AAT Level 3 qualification in Summer 2016 and her AAT Level 4 qualification in Winter 2018.
Andrew joined Manston Investments Ltd as Property Consultant in 2015. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and works alongside the Board and management team advising the company on its property portfolio.
Prior to joining Manston, Andrew had been a Director at Kingston Commercial Property Consultants in Lichfield where he worked from 1985.
Andrew has been a Board Member of the Lichfield Chamber of Commerce as well as spending time on the local BID Board. His hobbies include rugby (watching only, now) and golf (participating).
Richard Joined Manston Investments in November 2021 as Senior Building Surveyor, with a remit to deliver all required building surveying services ‘in house’. This follows on from a career across both site Carpentry and Joinery and building surveying for a number of public sector bodies and firms such as Virgin Rail and Savills. He is also an APC and Associate Candidate Assessor for the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, having a strong belief in the encouragement of others to develop their careers. Richard is a member of both the RICS and the Chartered Institute of Builders.
With an internal portfolio in excess of 30 commercial properties (Industrial & Logistics, Commercial Office Space and Retail premises) his role encompasses a range of activities, from dilapidations and schedules of condition through to design and procurement of work packages, project management and contract administration. Long term strategy work can involve planned and preventative maintenance, condition surveys, EPC/MEES, asbestos and CDM.
More recently, Richard has qualified as a ‘Building with Nature’ assessor, which aims to create better places for people and wildlife (https://www.buildingwithnature.org.uk/) This approach has been adopted on a number of large scale developments nationally, and Manston is proud to be involved with such a new and environmentally valuable approach to development.
In his spare time Richard enjoys maintaining his cars, constructing and fixing things, walking, cycling and the occasional beer!
Tina joined the team at Manston Investments Ltd in 2006. She has over 30 years’ experience working in both the public and private sector.
Initially working in finance, Tina recently transferred to the property section, taking with her the experienced knowledge of the business portfolio. Tina is now assisting Lynne and ensuring an efficient day-to-day running of the department.
After working for 15 years in the education system, Rebecca had a major career change in April 2015 when she joined the Manston Investments Ltd team in an accounts and administrative capacity. Rebecca also provides administrative support to the Property Department.
She will be your first point of contact at Manston Investments Ltd and will direct you to the appropriate member of our team.
